BICENTENARY

Team Pasteur spirit: a look back at the event on June 21

On Tuesday June 21, you came out in force on the Institut Pasteur campus to make the most of the free afternoon offered to all staff to celebrate the summer, music and, of course, the bicentenary of Louis Pasteur's birth.

Staff were invited to gather on the forecourt of the François Jacob building at 12.15pm for an enjoyable moment with colleagues and to greet the start of summer. Members of La Pasteurale, the sports club (ASIP) and the choir got the summer season off to a swinging start with a fantastic musical accompaniment.

In a subtle transition from the World Music Day celebrations to the Pasteurian-themed event that followed, members of the choir performed a tribute to Louis Pasteur, together with addresses by Jean-François Chambon, Vice-President Communications – Scientific Outreach, and Odile Hermabessière, Vice-President Human Resources. Both Vice-Presidents reiterated the underlying theme of the event, namely to give staff the opportunity to spend an enjoyable afternoon together while reminding themselves of Pasteurian values and traditions.

Many of you got involved in the activities that were organized for the occasion. Following the markings on the ground, you were able to pose alongside Louis Pasteur and add your snapshot to the collective fresco, check out various exhibitions and documentary screenings about Louis Pasteur, try your hand at operating a video camera and producing a vox pop, take part in a book signing session or take the opportunity to visit the Pasteur Museum before it closes. And of course there were plenty of delicious refreshments along the way!

The shared smiles and enthusiasm were a sign of how much everyone enjoyed spending time together on campus and celebrating Pasteurian values.
