Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
On Wednesday September 18, the Department for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) was pleased to invite staff to a festive day celebrating the cultural diversity of the Institut Pasteur community. The event was a great success, providing the many participants with opportunities to connect, learn and have fun.
► World cuisine workshops
The day began with cookery workshops, which gave staff the opportunity to learn and prepare traditional recipes from three different cultures: Senegal, Indonesia and Italy. The 40 participants, divided into three workshops, shared fascinating cultural anecdotes related to the dishes being prepared, creating a friendly, informal environment. Thank you to all those who registered and took part with such enthusiasm!
► International food trucks
During the lunch break, six food trucks offering specialties from Spain, Italy, the United States, North Africa, India and Mexico distributed 500 free meals and attracted a huge number of staff members to the CIS forecourt. Picnic areas were set up so that people could enjoy their meals in the sunshine, adding a festive, relaxed touch to this international lunch break. It was great fun and a chance for a culinary voyage of discovery.
► Seminar on interculturality in the workplace
The afternoon featured an interactive seminar in the Émile Duclaux lecture hall, with participants discussing the importance of interculturality in the workplace. This was an opportunity to address key topics such as inclusion and diversity, while raising awareness of the importance of understanding cultural differences within our organization..
► Intercultural quiz and prizes
The online quiz on interculturality, launched a week before the event, was a huge success, with more than 400 participants. Congratulations to the top five winners (1. Lucie Cappuccio, 2. Thomas Obadia, 3. Catherine Guerreiro, 4. Matthieu Cocagne and 5. Marie-Claire Jiang), each of whom received prizes from the partners of the Institut Pasteur's CSE, including a holiday in France for the first prize winner! The prize-giving ceremony took place at the end of the seminar.
The DEI would like to thank all the participants, speakers and volunteers who helped make this day showcasing the wealth of different cultures on campus a great success. It hopes that the initiative helped strengthen links among the community and sparked fascinating discussions on the importance of multiculturalism in everyday life.
