•    In-person PubMed training: retrieving relevant results, Tuesday October 22, 2024, 9:30am to 12.30pm* (in English)

PubMed can appear to be a simple, intuitive tool, but there are a number of techniques, features and tips that can help you boost the efficacy of your searches.

Have you heard of Automatic Term Mapping and Medical Subject Headings? How do Boolean operators and truncation work? Do you already have a My NCBI account to personalize your filters and save your searches?

The Scientific Information Resources Center (CeRIS) is running an interactive training course to give you a chance to learn all these techniques and save time with future searches.

Aims of the training:

•    Identify the features that make PubMed a powerful database

•    Learn specific techniques to improve the relevance of your search results

•    Use the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) database to boost your searches by subject in PubMed

•    Create and configure a personal My NCBI account to personalize your PubMed features and save effective search settings

This training is aimed at people who need to carry out occasional or regular literature searches in the PubMed database.

It is suitable for beginners and also for users who have taught themselves the basics of PubMed and want to learn how to make better use of its potential.

It will take place in English at CIS building (room 15-03-23 - ORCHIDEE).
