Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
The framework collaboration agreement signed in the autumn with Leica Microsystems aims to strengthen links with an industry partner at the cutting edge of technological research. This is an opportunity for the Institut Pasteur to co-develop applications in the fields of optical imaging, artificial intelligence, correlative microscopy and electron microscopy sample preparation.
Framework collaboration agreement: a tool to speed up co-development and reduce administrative burden
On a scientific level, the framework agreement offers various benefits:
• the possibility for Institut Pasteur engineers and scientists interested in Leica Microsystems technologies to perform early beta testing on products not yet on the market,
• privileged access to experts from Leica Microsystems R&D teams and production sites to co-develop applications in the fields of optical imaging, artificial intelligence, correlative microscopy and electron microscopy sample preparation.
The framework agreement will also help improve administrative efficiency:
• or example, as confidentiality issues are already covered, there is no need to draw up a confidential disclosure agreement (CDA) for each new discussion,
• as the legal terms of potential applications have been discussed in advance, a template is already available, making it quicker to draw up a collaboration agreement.

About Leica Microsystems
Leica Microsystems develops and manufactures microscopes and scientific instruments for stereomicroscopy, photon microscopy, digital microscopy, laser confocal scanning microscopy and super-resolution microscopy, with related systems for imaging, electron microscopy sample preparation and surgical microscopy.
Users of Leica Microsystems' instruments and services work in fields including clinical and life science research, various surgical specializations and disciplines related to materials science.
Leica Microsystems has six major plants and product development sites in Wetzlar and Mannheim (Germany), Vienna (Austria), Heerbrugg (Switzerland), Durham (United States) and Singapore. The headquarters of Leica Microsystems are in Wetzlar, Germany. Leica Microsystems is part of Danaher Corporation.
As a reminder, Institut Pasteur has signed framework agreements with several strategic industrial partners: bioMérieux, Sanofi, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Roche, Sensorion and Moderna (through a Material Transfer Agreement).
