Come along to the Pint of Science events to be held from May 19 to 21, 2025

In 2012, the concept of Pint of Science was dreamt up by two researchers from London who opened the doors of their lab to the public. This was how they discovered the public's keen interest and enthusiasm for science. They decided to look for a way to repeat the experience – and the idea they came up with was to take science and scientists away from their labs and bring them to the pub! That was the beginning of Pint of Science.

For the third year in a row, StaPa (the PhD students' association) is hosting three evening events dedicated to Institut Pasteur research topics.

Between 7 and 9.30pm from May 19 to 21, the "Le trait d'union" bar (122 rue de Rennes, 75006 Paris) will be hosting several Institut Pasteur researchers to engage with the public at the Pint of Science events featuring:

  • Monday May 19: Armel Bezault (engineer, Institut Pasteur, Integrative Structural Cell Biology Unit) and Yaëlle Wormser (PhD student, Institut Pasteur, Bacterial Cell Cycle Mechanisms Unit) who will speak on the topic Photobomb of microbes in 3D

  • Tuesday May 20: Jérémie Kalfon (PhD student, Institut Pasteur, Machine Learning for Integrative Genomics Unit) and Johann Dreo (research engineer, Institut Pasteur, Computational Systems Biomedicine Unit) who will speak on the topic Decoding the living world with AI

  • Wednesday May 21: Elodie Couderc (postdoctoral fellow, Institut Pasteur, Insect-Virus Interactions Unit) and Parul Sharma (PhD student, Institut Pasteur, Trypanosome Cell Biology Unit) who will speak on the topicHidden in Plain Sight: Parasites & Pathogens
