PASTEUR2030

Launch of the European Vaccines Hub for Pandemic Readiness

Faced with the threat of future pandemics, the European Union is mobilising to speed up the vaccine response through the European Vaccine Hub, a collaborative hub funded by the European Commission to the tune of €102m over 4 years. As a founding member of the EVH, Institut Pasteur will contribute its expertise to the project and play a coordinating role with French players in vaccinology research and innovation, in particular Inserm, ANRS-MIE, CEA and AP-HP. Thanks to this project, Institut Pasteur will benefit from European funding directly dedicated to the vaccinology initiative set out in the Pasteur 2030 strategic plan (Priority 1 - Infectious threats). The initiative will be piloted by the team led by James Di Santo, head of Institut Pasteur's Center for Vaccinology and Immunotherapy (CVI).

Yasmine Belkaid, President of Institut Pasteur, said on announcing the launch of this project on Thursday May 22: "Institut Pasteur is proud to be part of this crucial initiative, which combines scientific expertise and technological innovation for a better-prepared and resilient Europe. Together with our European partners, we are building a robust chain of vaccine development and protection with a focus on priority pathogens with pandemic potential that will ensure a future where Europe is at the forefront of the fight against pandemics. I would particularly like to congratulate James Di Santo and the entire CVI team on this magnificent result, which recognizes a major expertise of our institute in vaccinology and enables us to progress towards the Pasteur 2030 objectives."
