New research-themed artwork on campus railings

Creative hoarding to illustrate two major building projects on campus

Since this week, a creative hoarding produced by Céleste Gangolphe has been displayed on the railings around campus at 25, rue du Docteur Roux. The aim of this fresco, created as building work takes place on the Pasteur Museum and the future Vector-Borne Diseases Center (CMTV), is to inform passers-by about these two projects, spark curiosity, conceal the building sites and promote the image and missions of the Institut Pasteur until the buildings open in 2027-2028.

The artwork showcases the scientific community: research as a team effort and the diversity of professions and profiles involved. It also evokes the historical legacy of Louis Pasteur, how laboratory practices have changed and the continuity of research on vector-borne diseases for more than 130 years.

Finally, it highlights the Institut Pasteur's engagement with society, its openness to the challenges of global health, its research on the links between climate, environment and health, and its role in international collaboration via the Pasteur Network.

I wanted to combine scientific rigor with visual poetry. After visiting the labs, talking to scientists and exploring the photo library, I wanted to present the Institut Pasteur's dynamic, human-centered, dedicated approach to science. With its history and its community, the Institut Pasteur is an endless source of inspiration – honestly, I could have produced several kilometers of art!
