Procedure for creating research units based on internal applications

In 2013, 2014 and 2015 Institut Pasteur and OREX scientists had the possibility of applying to establish research units on the Institut Pasteur campus as part of a non-themed call for proposals open to campus applicants. Six units were accordingly set up.

It has been decided to maintain this possibility by publishing the call for proposals every year. However, proposals will only be eligible if the applicant is part of a campus research unit (or a unit accredited by the Institut Pasteur) at the time of submission. Proposals may be submitted three times starting from the call for proposals launched in 2016. Submissions do not need to be consecutive.

In view of year n assessments, the Department of Scientific Affairs reserves the right to request an applicant not to resubmit their proposal in year n+1. If successful the unit will be set up for an initial 5-year term that is renewable once following review before the Scientific Council.

The unit's maximum staff numbers (known as ETM) will be set at between 6 and 8 on creation. This number can be readjusted following assessment of the initial term.
