CORONAVIRUS

A wave of generosity to help tackle the pandemic

  • United against the virus: the Fondation de France, AP-HP and the Institut Pasteur join forces

The Fondation de France, the Paris Public Hospital Network (AP-HP) and the Institut Pasteur have decided to join forces and mobilize their networks within an alliance entitled "United against the virus." Given the scale of the needs, they have launched a fundraising appeal to support health workers, scientists and vulnerable individuals. The money raised will be put to good use to support health professionals in hospitals or other facilities, fund research projects and support charities and those working on the ground to provide relief for vulnerable individuals.

  • A special program on France 2 to raise funds for health professionals, scientists and charities supporting vulnerable individuals

To raise awareness of the fundraising campaign, the Fondation de France approached TV channel France 2, which broadcast a special primetime program on Tuesday at 9pm. The aim was to collect donations to support medical and hospital staff on the front line in tackling the pandemic, scientists involved in improving knowledge about the virus and developing effective treatments, and charities and those working on the ground to help vulnerable individuals.

Several artists, famous faces and members of the public committed to the cause sent messages of support – all at a safe distance, from their homes. These "virtual" guests included Clara Luciani, Jean-Louis Aubert, Zazie, Patrick Bruel, Ary Abittan, Selah Sue, Gad Elmaleh and Julien Clerc.

Before the broadcast, France Télévisions Publicité announced on Monday that it had already raised €1.062 million in net advertising revenues for the hospital campaign launched by the Fondation de France.
