Forum on "Global Health in tropical regions : Perspective from Latin America and West Africa in a changing world - French contributions"

The France/Brazil Cross-Cultural Season 2025 aims to strengthen joint actions between France and Brazil in the face of contemporary political, social and ecological challenges. The Season gives priority to projects based on partnerships between French and Brazilian institutions.

Under the leadership of the Institut Pasteur of São Paulo, a joint project with the Department of Global Health at the Institut Pasteur of Paris has been submitted to strengthen scientific and strategic ties between research teams from both institutes, while also involving members of the CNRS, the Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD), representatives from the University of São Paulo, the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and the Pasteur Network.

The project has received the support of the organising committees of both countries, as well as the French sponsors' committee and FAPESP, and will result in two important events in October 2025:

  • The Amazonian School on Global Health (Montenegro, Rondônia, October 11–15, and São Paulo, October 16–19), will welcome 15 students from Brazil, French Guiana, Cameroon, Senegal, Peru, and France.

  • The forum “Global Health in Tropical Regions: perspectives from Latin America and West Africa in a changing world – French contributions”, will take place from October 20–22 at the Institut Pasteur de São Paulo.
