Acting on a proposal from the President, the Institut Pasteur's Board of Governors has appointed Alban Hautier as the new Senior Executive Vice-President. He succeeds François Romaneix and will take up his post on November 3.

Mr. Alban Hautier has been appointed Senior Executive Vice-President of the Institut Pasteur following an extremely rigorous selection process in which the President involved several members of the Board of Governors, qualified external figures including a research institute head, and an Institut Pasteur scientist who previously served as Vice-President Scientific Affairs. 
 
All parties concurred that he was the ideal candidate due to his career record, management experience, knowledge of the higher education and research sector, and knowledge of the Institut Pasteur.

A Sciences Po graduate and French National School of Public Administration (ENA) alumnus, Alban Hautier started his career as a finance inspector before joining the French Budget Directorate in 2015. Here, he notably served as Deputy Director for Education, Higher Education and Research, Energy, and Innovation Policy. In this capacity, he also sat on the boards of several research organizations (CNRS, CEA, ANR) and, in particular, the Institut Pasteur Board of Governors from 2019 to 2022. 
 
Alban Hautier has held the post of Sciences Po General Secretary since the start of 2024. 

Alongside the President and the Vice-President Scientific Affairs, Alban Hautier will form part of a senior management team responsible for setting and implementing the Institut Pasteur's strategic priorities with all members of the Senior Management Board. His chief priorities will include putting concrete steps in place to overhaul our business model – a process initiated in early 2025; continuing to modernize labor relations and HR policy; and simplifying and streamlining collaboration between scientific departments and support staff. He will play a key role in rolling out the Pasteur 2030 strategic plan and leading vital change to further enhance our scientific excellence.
