Commemoration

Boosting the visibility of the bicentenary of Louis Pasteur's birth with a dedicated quality label

As announced in the December 3 issue of the newsletter, the year 2022 will mark the bicentenary of Louis Pasteur's birth. The bicentenary will be a momentous occasion, not only for the Institut Pasteur community but also for the country as a whole, with a host of events, celebrations and commemorations bearing the Louis Pasteur quality label, issued by a dedicated committee.

The first events on the agenda, aimed at both those on campus and the country as a whole, include:

  • Book publications: collections of letters, a comic album and a biography

  • Teaching modules for young learners

  • Training sessions for school teachers

  • Scientific lecture series

  • Conferences for the general public, including a closing conference on the Institut Pasteur campus in December 2022, which will focus on major human and animal epidemics.

Check out the full agenda on the official pasteur2022.fr website, which was launched last week.

Several scientists, artists, associations, local authorities and institutions will be taking this opportunity to showcase Louis Pasteur's legacy. All upcoming events will be presented on pasteur2022.fr, which will be regularly updated as new events are organized. Any organizations or institutions wishing to take part in the commemorations can fill out an online form to receive accreditation with the official label and be listed on the event website.

These organizations will be able to make use of the dedicated charter and the quality label (featuring a portrait of Louis Pasteur designed by the artist Fabrice Hyber), which have been created as a way of bringing together all the official communication tools and initiatives for the bicentenary.
