Register for the new edition of the Vaccinology MOOC
The digital education office is pleased to invite you to sign up for the new edition of the " Vaccinology" MOOC, from April 26 to June 26, 2022, led by Armelle Phalipon and Behazine Combadière.
Vaccines are among the most effective public health interventions currently available. Several diseases have been eradicated or reduced drastically through vaccination. Together, with antibiotics and clean water, vaccines have increased life expectancy in both high- and low-income countries. Despite the success of vaccination in preventing diseases, several challenges remain in regard of persisting epidemics and new pandemics.
This MOOC describes the successes of vaccination in preventing diseases, as well as the remaining challenges in regard of persisting epidemics and new pandemics.
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
• Summarize the basics of vaccinology
• Define the clinical steps required to develop a vaccine
• Describe the vaccines remaining to be implemented
• Discuss how to improve the vaccine coverage
• Explain the future challenges of vaccinology
Register for the second edition of the Advances in Stem Cell Biology MOOC
The digital education office is pleased to invite you to sign up for the second edition of the " Advances in Stem Cell Biology " MOOC, from April 14 to June 17, 2022 led by Shahragim Tajbakhsh.
Stem cells have the spectacular ability to restore the function of damaged tissues, providing major opportunities for fundamental studies on organogenesis, regeneration, diseases, and ageing. In spite of intense research in this field, many unanswered questions remain regarding stem cell regulation and function.
The Advances in Stem Cell Biology MOOC was created to provide an overview of stem cell biology, the properties of stem cells and their potential in directing organogenesis and regeneration in different organisms, and how they can be exploited for therapeutic purposes.
During this MOOC you will learn about the characteristics and properties of stem cells, along with the latest discoveries in the field from general concepts to different categories of stem cells, and how they participate in organogenesis in the organism - and in vitro.
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
• Summarize the general concepts in stem cell biology
• Describe how tissue specific stem cells participate in organogenesis
• Explain how to derive pluripotent stem cells
• Define how organoids can help to understand development biology
• Discuss stem cell applications for therapeutic purposes
