Governance - Message from Yves Saint-Geours, Chairman of the Board of Governors, to all Institut Pasteur staff

"Dear all,

At its meeting on Wednesday March 29, 2023, the Institut Pasteur's Board of Governors appointed Professor Yasmine Belkaid President of the Institut Pasteur for a six-year term.

The appointment of Professor Yasmine Belkaid as President of the Institut Pasteur concludes a particularly demanding selection process, which began in June 2021, during which two very high-level candidates emerged. The Board of Directors was called upon to decide on one of these two profiles and chose Yasmine Belkaid.

A French Algerian born in Algiers in 1968, Professor Yasmine Belkaid is an internationally renowned scientist who has focused her research on the relationship between microbes and the immune system. She is currently Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Center for Human Immunology, and founder and Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Microbiome Program at NIH (Bethesda, Maryland, United States). Within NIAID, she has also developed the Department of Host Immunity and Microbiome.

Professor Yasmine Belkaid will succeed Professor Stewart Cole and will take office as President of the Institut Pasteur on January 1, 2024. Until that date, Stewart Cole will continue to serve as President of the Institut Pasteur in conjunction with the management team, as represented by the current Executive Board and Senior Management Board.

Kind regards,"

Yves Saint-Geours
Chairman of the Board of Governors
