"Scientists and citizens: committed to society" on December 10, 2025

On December 10, 2025, the Institut Pasteur will host a prestigious conference, a "Mission Libération" event, to mark the 60th anniversary of the award of the Nobel Prize to François Jacob, Jacques Monod and André Lwoff.

Moderated by journalist and historian Nicolas Chevassus-au-Louis, the event will both celebrate their scientific and humanist legacy and reflect on what it means to engage with society through research today.

The program includes three discussion sessions on scientific engagement, from the Resistance to global health, with speakers including scientists from the Institut Pasteur and the Pasteur Network and academics specializing in humanities and social sciences.

  • Venue: Scientific Information Center (CIS) auditorium The conference will also be live-streamed via Zoom.  
     
  • Date: Wednesday December 10, 2025 from 9.30am to 5.

There will also be a pop-up book store with a selection of books related to the conference topics, from 12 noon to 1pm in the CIS entrance hall. Several authors will be there to sign copies of their books. 

This conference closes the series of events organized by "Mission Libération. It will shine a light on a key strand of research: responsibility to society and reaching out to citizens.
