Pink October: a look back at awareness-raising initiatives

Conferences, workshops, awareness booths... a wonderful initiative that brought the campus together to focus on breast cancer prevention and screening. Here's a look back at the activities carried out over the past few weeks as part of this year's Pink October campaign.

Since 1994, Ruban Rose (Pink Ribbon) has been organizing the annual "Pink October" campaign to raise awareness among the general public of the importance of prevention in tackling breast cancer. For the second year in a row, the Occupational Health and Prevention Department (SPST) has coordinated several initiatives on campus to encourage everyone to learn about and discuss these issues.

The conferences and workshops addressed various aspects of prevention:

• Fact check on breast cancer screening with Dr. Chloé Dratwa, a radiologist specializing in diagnostic radiology and medical imaging in women

• Focus sur les familles à haut risque génétique de cancer du sein, with Antoine de Pauw, genetic counselor at the Institut Curie

• Physical activity as a preventive measure throughout the breast cancer care pathway, with Jocelyne Rolland, a physiotherapist and patron of the Breast Physiotherapist Network .

On October 9, an information stand was set up in front of the company restaurant, run by the SPST, Valérie Hélin (DARRI), the Phoenix et Dragon association, and Mélanie Ribeiro, painter and radiology technician.

The stand attracted a lot of interest, as did the competition, which drew 218 participants.

Congratulations to the winners:

  • 1st prize – Art print of a work by Mélanie Ribeiro: Corinne Jalle
  • 2nd prizes – CSE tote bags featuring the comic book La guerre des tétons (3 volumes): Bérengère Hugo and Juliette Paireau
  • 3rd prizes – Trial vouchers for Dragon Boat: Mathilde Briday, Selin Korkmaz, and Quentin Giai Gianetto

Replays and presentations from the conferences are available on ePasteur to continue raising awareness. You will also find various resources there.

As a nod to this initiative, the Duclaux building was lit up in pink at the beginning of the month, a powerful symbol of support and solidarity.

A big thank you to all the teams and individuals involved.

Prevention continues well beyond October: let's stay mindful of our health!
