Public seminar - The Ebola epidemic in West Africa: comparing perspectives from social and biomedical science

Co-organized by the Medical Anthropology and Environment Group (Epidemiology of Emerging Diseases Unit) and the Center for Global Health, the public seminar The Ebola epidemic in West Africa: comparing perspectives from social and biomedical science will be held onNovember 7, 2016 from 10.00 to 1.00pm in room Jean-Paul Aubert.

The West African Ebola epidemic and the ensuing international intervention created unprecedented challenges for and collaborations between biomedical researchers, global health professionals and clinical practitioners. This public seminar brings together social scientists of various disciplines - anthropology, history, and sociology - to explore the complexities of biomedical research during the active outbreak response.

Speakers: Vinh-Kim Nguyen, Sylvain Faye, Frédéric Le Marcis, Anita Schroven and Tamara Giles-Vernick.

Presentations and discussions will be in English.
