New video « My PhD at the Institut Pasteur » with Olesia Platonova : What if sounds could help cure dyslexia?

The Education Department continues its video series “My PhD at the Institut Pasteur”, highlighting the work of our PhD students.

In this new episode, the format is evolving! Thanks to a collaboration with Baptiste Arnaud, PhD student at the Institut Pasteur and co-creator of the scientific media platform Ordres de grandeur, the episodes now take the form of conversations that give PhD students a different way to share their work.

Today, meet Olesia Platonova, PhD student at the Institut reConnect within the Institut de l’Audition, who is exploring an innovative approach to improve reading in children with dyslexia: stimulating the brain with sounds.

Her project:
Linking sounds to letters is a key step in learning to read. In children with dyslexia, the brain segments the flow of speech differently, and this connection can sometimes be weak. By proposing a six-week rhythmic auditory training, Olesia and her team aim to strengthen these neural connections and facilitate reading acquisition.
