First Grants Impact Report
The Grants Office (GO) has published the first institutional Grants Impact Report for the period 2019-2024. This report, produced with the sponsorship of the Transformation and Strategic Projects Department and the collaboration of numerous support services and scientists, sheds new light on key figures about grant submission trends, funding and success rates over the past six years. In addition, the GO sought to look beyond these classic metrics, investigating what other impacts have been brought by grants:
What percentage of papers cite grants?
How many people are funded annually through grants?
How many collaborations took place through grant-funded research projects?
To what extent do grants support innovation and help develop internal policies?
The analysis is limited to the grants managed by the GO, and does not take into account external funds managed by the other services/directorates (Scientific Programming and Incentive Actions Department, Department of International Affairs, Department of Philanthropy, Technology Transfer and Industrial Partnerships Department).
While the GO team suspected the data would demonstrate multifaceted impacts, it had never previously produced verifiable, replicable analyses of these key indicators.
Aligned with the objectives of Pasteur 2030, this report sets a standard for ongoing evidence-based assessment and reporting in future years.
