Scientific outreach and communication: using animated films to tell scientific stories – second edition
How can we present science in a new way? How can we use animation to share information and messages more effectively? ?After the success of the first session held in the spring, the training course "Using animated films to tell scientific stories" is coming back in January 2026 for a second extended edition.
Led by Cécile Rousset, a director of animated films, visual arts teacher and lecturer at the French School of Decorative Arts (ENSAD), this training course consists of a hands-on workshop over three and a half days, exploring traditional animation techniques (paper cut-outs, claymation, collages, etc.) and how animated images can become an original, accessible and effective scientific communication tool.
The training, proposed by Nicolas Dray, a scientist in the Zebrafish Neurogenetics Unit, and organized by the Scientific Training team in the Training Office within the HR Department, will provide participants with creative know-how to share science in a new way and the opportunity to develop a skill that can be useful to everyone, regardless of their specific role.
The previous session was attended by twelve people with a variety of backgrounds – scientists, PhD students and engineers in scientific units, and staff in support roles.? The feedback was entirely positive, with participants finding the experience creative, fulfilling and collaborative.
