EMBL-Institut Pasteur partnership: a look back at the seminar “Joining Forces: The EMBL-Pasteur Initiative” and opening of the call for applications for “Travel & Training” grant

The Institut Pasteur has recently joined the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) initiative, designed to promote interdisciplinary research in infection biology across Europe through an ambitious partnership between leading European research institutes (see the March 21, 2025 newsletter).

As part of this initiative, the “Joining Forces: The EMBL-Pasteur Initiative” seminar was held on June 4, during which the five projects selected in the first call for projects for the “Amplifying Funds in Infection Biology” program were presented.

To open the seminar, Yasmine Belkaid reminded participants of Institut Pasteur's current engagement to strengthen partnerships in order to foster new scientific opportunities and take risks in new scientific directions.

The event was also an opportunity to announce the opening of the second call for projects for the “Amplifying Funds in Infection Biology” program, which aims to fund travel and training grants for young scientists on campus. This call for projects is open until October 24, 2025
To answer any questions you may have about this second call for projects, EMBL is organizing a question-and-answer session on July 8 from 10 to 11 a.m. via Zoom. If you would like to take part, please register here.

The Institut Pasteur is also pleased to announce the opening of the second round of applications for “EMBL Courses & Conferences Travel” scholarships until July 10, 2025 (see the dedicated article in this issue). These scholarships are intended for young campus scientists (PhD students, postdocs, permanent researchers, engineers) to attend EMBL courses and conferences in 2025.
