Every year since 2007, the L'Oréal Foundation, in partnership with the French Academy of Sciences and the French National Commission for UNESCO, has recognized the achievements of 35 promising young female scientists who are helping advance the frontiers of research in France.

The award shines a light on women scientists, supports them in their career and recognizes their contribution to research. The prize includes an endowment to help them continue their research and advance scientific knowledge in their field.

This year, 34 PhD students and postdoctoral fellows were selected to receive the 2025 L'Oréal-UNESCO "For Women in Science" French Young Talent award.

Among them are six female Pasteurians:

Yolène Duchaudé, a PhD student in the Vector-borne Diseases laboratory led by Anubis Vega-Rúa at the Institut Pasteur de la Guadeloupe, for her research on the potential of Caribbean plants from the "Creole garden" to tackle the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which spreads dengue, Zika and chikungunya.

Leah Friedman, a PhD student in the Physics of Biological Function Unit led by Thomas Gregor, who is exploring the biophysics of living systems, with a particular focus on gastruloids, self-organizing structures from stem cells that mimic embryonic development.

Marion Guérin, a postdoctoral fellow in the Dynamics of Immune Responses Unit led by Philippe Bousso, for her research on the mechanisms of action of immunotherapies aimed at improving cancer treatments.

Eulalie Liorzou, a PhD student in the Comparative Functional Genomics Unit led by Camille Berthelot, whose research sets out to improve our understanding of the biology of menstruation and elucidate the genetic mechanisms used by the uterus to change before and during menstruation.

Sabrina Mechaussier, a postdoctoral fellow in the Plasticity of Central Auditory Circuits Unit led by Nicolas Michalski, for her research on the reversibility of auditory nerve damage associated with genetic forms of deafness.

Marie Robert, a PhD student in the Translational Immunology Unit led by Darragh Duffy, who is seeking to shed light on the role played by the immune system in inflammatory and infectious diseases such as sarcoidosis and tuberculosis.
