Symposium on microbial pathogenesis in tribute to Stanley Falkow on May 28 and 29

On May 28 and 29, the Institut Pasteur will host a symposium on microbial pathogenesis in tribute to Stanley Falkow, a professor of microbiology and immunology at Stanford University who was considered as the "father of molecular microbial pathogenesis".

Speakers will include Stewart Cole, Pascale Cossart and Philippe Sansonetti.

Member of the US National Academy of Sciences and Foreign Fellow of the Royal Society, Stanley Falkow received many awards: the Abbott Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society for Microbiology, the Selman A. Waksman Award in Microbiology from the US National Academy of Sciences, the Lasker Award for Medical Research and the National Medal of Science from President Obama. He was also President of the American Society for Microbiology in 1997-98. His scientific accomplishments shine alongside his enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring students.
