The first case of Japanese encephalitis in Africa

Scientists from the Institut Pasteur in Paris and the Institut Pasteur in Dakar have unexpectedly demonstrated a case of Japanese encephalitis and yellow fever coinfection in a patient in Angola. This discovery raises the question of the risk of circulation of Japanese encephalitis, previously endemic to Asia, in Africa. The findings were published on April 13, 2017 in the New England Journal of Medicine.
