Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
The SARS-CoV-2 outbreak has raised unprecedented challenges associated with controlling and preventing the viral disease at global level. While the emergence of the virus has been well documented, a number of important questions on the transmissibility of the disease are yet to be resolved, especially when it comes to household pets. Institut Pasteur scientists, working in collaboration with teams from the Alfort National Veterinary School, tested several cats and dogs that came into close contact with humans that had tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 or showed clinical signs of COVID-19. No animal in the study was found to carry the virus.
