Mathematical models to assess the impact of vaccination on the COVID-19 epidemic in France

It is thought that between the start of the pandemic and March 2021, approximately 20% of the French population were infected by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, a level that is far below what is required to achieve collective immunity. A large-scale vaccination campaign is therefore needed to enable the easing of restrictions and a return to normal life.

Scientists in the Mathematical Modeling of Infectious Diseases Unit at the Institut Pasteur, in cooperation with the French National Authority for Health (HAS), the EHESP School of Public Health, INSERM and Santé publique France, have developed mathematical models to study the potential impact of vaccination on the COVID-19 epidemic.
