A study entitled "Snake bites in Cameroon: evaluating antivenom serums in Africa based on data in real-life conditions" was launched on June 26 and 27, 2019 at a kick-off meeting in Yaoundé. It will take place over a two-year period at 14 health centers in Cameroon. The study, coordinated by the Institut Pasteur, will evaluate tolerance to an antivenom serum registered in Cameroon and assess its clinical efficacy. It will be conducted under the aegis of the Cameroon Ministry of Public Health, with the participation of project partners including the French Research Institute for Development (IRD), the Cameroon Society of Epidemiology (CaSE) and the African Society of Venimology (ASV). Almost 470 participants will be involved in the study via centers opened in August 2019.
