Upcoming session of the Workshops at the Center for Translational Science on December 18

The Workshops at the Center for Translational Science are bimonthly two-hour events at which expert speakers are invited to give presentations suitable for both scientists and non-scientists on topical issues related to clinical research.

Each session has been followed by a round table featuring a number of other guests in addition to the main speaker, who are invited to share their experiences on the topic under discussion.

The next session will take place on December 18 from 9.30 to 11.30am in the François Jacob auditorium, on the subject "Anthropological approaches in translational research". The speaker will be Tamara Giles-Vernick, from the Epidemiology of Emerging Diseases Unit.

A key difference between social sciences and humanities (SSH) and experimental sciences lies in the investigative method and skills employed. But both approaches are vital for devising and evaluating public health policies, especially in the area of infectious risk management. What contribution can anthropological and historical approaches make to translational research?
