BICENTENARY

Check out the Louis Pasteur Gallica cycle at the National Library of France

On October 21, to mark the celebration of the bicentenary of Louis Pasteur's birth, the National Library of France (BnF) launched a Louis Pasteur cycle in its Gallica digital library. Every Friday until the end of the year, users can check out a series of blog posts tracing the scientist's life story, produced by the teams at the BnF and the Institut Pasteur's CeRIS.

An introductory post outlining the milestones in Louis Pasteur's life will be followed by several other articles, each focusing on a different field of study (early work on chemistry, dispute with Victor Pouchet on spontaneous generation theory, research on silkworm diseases, drink preservation and livestock diseases, and development of the rabies vaccine).

A "Gallica Event" about Louis Pasteur will also be held on Tuesday December 13, 2022, from 5.30 to 6.30pm. The aim of the monthly Gallica events is to present the digital collections of the BnF and its partners by focusing on a specific topic or selection of documents.
