Since it was set up in 2006, the annual Georges, Jacques and Elias Canetti Award has provided support for Institut Pasteur scientists carrying out research in the field of infectious diseases. The aim of the award is to recognize talent, encourage creation and reward the achievements of scientists.
The 2018 winner is Nadia Naffakh, a molecular virologist and CNRS Research Director who works in the Institut Pasteur's Virology Department. In 1997, she joined the Molecular Genetics of RNA Viruses Unit, directed by Professor Sylvie van der Werf at the Institut Pasteur. The focus of her research is influenza viruses.
The award was presented by Stewart Cole, President of the Institut Pasteur, accompanied by Françoise Canetti. The ceremony was also attended by Bernard and Johanna Canetti and microbiology professor Jacques Grosset.
