Sign up for the Tuberculosis MOOC

As part of the ongoing development of its online training, the Institut Pasteur has set up a MOOC on tuberculosis, a disease which still ranked among the ten leading causes of death globally in 2015 and remains the world's most deadly infectious disease, ahead of AIDS and malaria. Despite plans to eliminate TB over the next two decades, the number of cases is only falling by around 1.5% per year. And the emergence of resistance to treatment, including multidrug resistance, is making it increasingly difficult to combat the disease.

Against this backdrop, the Institut Pasteur was keen to develop a MOOC about TB, which looks at the current state of the disease and the latest developments. This new online course covers a wide range of aspects, from basic knowledge to the latest findings, clinical aspects, epidemiology, TB in children, risk factors (especially genetic factors), the immune response, vaccines, and methods for detecting and treating drug-resistant TB.

The MOOC is designed to offer a broad overview of TB. It is particularly aimed at healthcare professionals and public health workers, microbiologists, pharmacists, scientists and students in life sciences.

Course staff: Brigitte Gicquel, Catherine Pierre-Audigier et Howard Takiff

We hope lots of you will sign up!
