Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
The Institut Pasteur Conference Center (previously known as the Conferences and Events Department - see memo 617) is responsible for all the practical and logistical arrangements for conferences run by Institut Pasteur scientists on campus. It is also in charge of organizing and/or hosting a wide range of external and some internal events and events run by Institut Pasteur partners (such as sponsors).
For all of these events, the Institut Pasteur can provide outstanding conference facilities in the heart of Paris, at a prestigious historical and scientific venue that can host almost 1,000 people across its dedicated conference areas. In 2015, the Institut Pasteur Conference Center hosted 127 conferences, with a total of 37,375 participants (an increase of more than 6.5% compared with 2014). These figures put the Institut Pasteur at the top of the list of scientific venues hosting conferences, according to the survey conducted by the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau, which has been gathering data on all the conferences held in Paris and the Greater Paris area every year since 2005.
The aim for 2016 is to promote the Institut Pasteur's role as the leading venue for scientific conferences in Paris.
The program of major conferences in 2016 includes the following:
The International EMBO conference « ISOPOL XIX » takes place every three years and will allow participants to exchange on a variety of topics concerning the bacterial pathogen Listeria and listeriosis ranging from epidemiology and diagnostics, to genomics, cell biology and immunology. The target audience includes scientists from the academic world, the food industry, the veterinary field and public health agencies.
This meeting is organized by Pascale Cossart and an international committee that includes the following scientists from Institut Pasteur : Sylvain Brisse, Carmen Buchrieser, Philippe Glaser, Edith Gouin et Marc Lecuit.
The EMBO Workshop “Membrane Fusion in health and Disease” will cover all aspects of the membrane fusion in eukaryotic organisms. From fusion of organelles within cells, of vesicles with the plasma membrane to release neurotransmitters or other signals, fusion of enveloped viruses to infect a cell, all the way to fusion between cells during fertilisation or during organogenesis. Despite the wide range of processes involving membrane fusion, the molecular mechanisms by which dedicated proteins induce fusion are very similar. Their dysfunction results in anomalies that lead to serious disease or infertility.
The workshop will take place June 20-24, 2016.
The 2016 International Round Table on Nucleosides, Nucleotides and Nucleic Acids (July 18-22) is the 22th edition of an international meeting, which gathers every two years participants from all over the world (chemists, molecular biologists, biochemists, biologists, medicinal chemists) interested in understanding all aspects of this field. XII IRT aims to put at the forefront the latest developments in innovation-driven nucleos(t)ide and oligonucleotide chemistry, both in academia and industry, for dealing with the new challenges of our century.
The IRT 2016 is jointly organized by french researchers from Institut Pasteur (Sylvie POCHET), Université d’Orléans (Luigi AGROFOGLIO and Vincent ROY) and Université Paris-Descartes (Mélanie ETHEVE-QUELQUEJEU), together with the International Society of Nucleosides, Nucleotides and Nucleic Acids (IS3NA).

The EMBO conference “Tuberculosis 2016: Interdisciplinary research on tuberculosis and pathogenic mycobacteria” to be held this year from 19-23 September in the CIS of the Institut Pasteur, will focus on new biological insights and scientific advances on tuberculosis-causing and related pathogenic mycobacteria, and how this knowledge might be used to cope with the enormous problems that pathogenic mycobacteria cause for millions of people today.
