Stepping up security at the Institut Pasteur in connection with the Vigipirate Plan and the state of emergency

At the request of the French security forces, the Technical Resources and Environment Department, which is responsible for security on campus, has amended the Institut Pasteur's security posture and adopted threat level "Vigipirate - Enhanced security / risk of attack".

The Vigipirate Plan is a national security plan with three threat levels:

  • vigilance;
  • enhanced security / risk of attack;
  • imminent risk of attack.

The Institut Pasteur has been instructed to adopt the second level for all access points to the Institut Pasteur (the entrances at 25 and 28 rue du Docteur Roux, the entrance of the Institut Pasteur Medical Center at 211 rue de Vaugirard and access at 41 rue des Volontaires).

At this level, basic badge and ID checks are not enough.

No one is allowed to gain access to campus without being subjected to heightened security checks:

  • visual check of access badges for all staff, pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, car users and service providers;

  • for those with an annual parking permit for 2017 or a daily permit, security guards must be allowed to check car trunks when arriving and leaving campus;

  • carriers, delivery agents and couriers will be subjected to the same security practices as Institut Pasteur staff;

  • at all vehicle access points, car registration numbers will be systematically recorded, together with the identities of all passengers;

  • notification of any external visitors must be given in advance by an internal staff member. Once the visitors have registered and been given a visitor's badge, they must be met by the internal staff member;

  • for bicycles and motorbikes, bags and top boxes will be checked;

  • luggage and bags belonging to external visitors with visitor's badges will be checked.

Vehicle access to the site at weekends and outside working hours is not permitted for any staff members.

Any exceptional requests (for conferences, trade fairs, caterers, etc.) should be submitted to the Security Department: astreintes@pasteur.fr

Security rounds should also be carried out regularly over the entire campus, as well as unannounced random badge checks.

The Technical Resources and Environment Department would like to thank you in advance for your cooperation with these measures designed to combat all forms of threat that may affect each and every one of us.
