Waste management at the Institut Pasteur: read the 2023 annual report

The Waste, Sterilization and Premises Maintenance Department in the Technical Resources and Environment Department is responsible for waste management at the Institut Pasteur, with the exception of radioactive and asbestos waste.

The department makes every effort to:

•    Introduce and manage waste disposal systems for hazardous and non-hazardous waste on site;

•    Collect and centralize waste;

•    Manage external service providers to recover waste in line with applicable regulations;

•    Organize transport of waste, keeping distances and volumes to a minimum;

•    Recover waste through reuse, recycling or other measures to obtain reusable materials or energy;

•    Raise awareness among staff of the importance of separating biological and chemical waste and recoverable materials such as paper/cardboard, plastic, glass packaging, aluminum, wood, waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and organic waste from the company restaurant;

•    Ensure compliance with ADR regulations (on the transport of dangerous goods).
