A look back on the Institut Pasteur general lecture with Françoise Combes
On Thursday February 19, the Institut Pasteur held its second general lecture (CIGIP) with the astrophysicist and President of the French Academy of Sciences, Françoise Combes.
After an introduction by Laure Bally-Cuif, head of Zebrafish Neurogenetics unit, Françoise Combes presented the research conducted since the early 20th century by eminent astronomers and astrophysicists on understanding the formation and expansion of the Universe, particularly the nature of this energy and invisible matter.
Through this presentation, Françoise Combes demonstrates that our knowledge of the universe has advanced significantly over the past century, notably with the discovery of more than 2 trillion galaxies and the highly probable existence of other universes. However, many questions remain unanswered, particularly regarding the identification of the universe's contents, 95% of which remain unknown to this day.
