Upcoming "Creating your own company" session on March 7

Following on from the 2016 sessions, this year the Education Department, the MAASCC welcome and support structure for contract researchers and the Research Applications and Industrial Relations Department will continue to run a monthly event offering scientists interested in business development the chance to meet a leading figure and entrepreneur in the area of biotechnology. The aim is to encourage those interested in setting up their own company.

This event, entitled "Creating your own company", takes the form of a breakfast meeting on the first Tuesday of each month.

The next 2017 session will take place on Tuesday March 7 from 8.30 to 10.30am in the Duclaux 2 room of the Émile Duclaux building. The speaker will be Franck Zal, co-founder and CEO (since 2007) of the company Hemarina.

fza_siteinternet.jpeg Franck Zal is the co-founder and CEO of Hemarina, a biotech that has developed a biomaterial from the hemoglobin of marine worms, which can carry at least 50 times more oxygen than human hemoglobin. This biomaterial has many possible applications in medicine and industry: blood transfusion, graft preservation, therapeutic dressings... Hemarina has also opened an office in Bostin in 2014.

Academic researcher  by training, Frank Zal reinvented himself as an entrepreneur. He is an internationally recognized expert in the field of hemoglobin of marine invertebrates and their transport of oxygen.
