2017 scientific conferences with the Institut Pasteur Conference Center

The 2017 program of major symposiums at the Institut Pasteur conference center has already begun to roll out on the Parisian campus. The first event was held at the end of January with the 10th edition of a conference called "NMR: a tool for biology.

Many other major symposiums will also take place this year:

  • Centennial Celebration of Bacteriophage Research, April 24-26, CIS

image001.png The year 2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the initiation of bacteriophage research at Institut Pasteur. On this occasion a conference is organized aiming to provide a broad overview of the major milestones in the bacteriophage research, from the emergence of the field of molecular biology to major discoveries such as the identification of DNA as the genetic material and all the way to the discovery of the CRISPR-Cas systems, which recently revolutionized many disciplines in life sciences.

The Ins and Outs of Cellular Senescence: Understanding the Biology to Foster Healthy Aging and Suppression of Disease

At the International Cell Senescence Association (ICSA) Conference 2017 entitled, « The Ins-and-Outs of Cellular Senescence:  Understanding the Biology to Foster Healthy Aging and Suppression of Disease », an international group of scientists from all over the world, will come together to share their latest discoveries regarding senescence, cancer and aging, and how an understanding of senescence can be exploited to prevent cancer and promote healthy aging.

  • EMBO Conference on Hijacking host signalling and epigenetic mimicry during infections, June 13-16, CIS

image005.png Infectious agents can manipulate the genetic program of host cells by modifying cellular signalling pathways to gain selective advantage. One major objective is to block the innate immune response of the host. Infectious agents also divert or modify the metabolism of the host cell, manipulating its membranes, intracellular trafficking, and its state of differentiation etc. Recently, it became apparent that they can also directly modify the epigenetic landscape of the host cell by activating or inhibiting histone modifications, by histone exchange or histone mimicry, or by modulating chromatin binding proteins etc.

By bringing together scientists with expertise in bacteria, viruses and parasites, we hope that the cross-talk between different research communities will generate new ideas and contribute to the development of new therapeutic approaches.

  • ETOX18 - European Workshop on Bacterial Protein Toxins, June 26-30, Duclaux

image007.png ETOX is a label for a well-established and reputed series of “European Workshops on Bacterial Protein Toxins” initiated in 1983 with the impulsion of Joseph E. Alouf. The 18th ETOX will offer an international stage for promoting the dissemination of the latest ground breaking discoveries of the year in the field of bacterial protein toxins, and will be held in Institut Pasteur Paris on 26th-30th June 2017.

  • 17th Congress of European Shock Society: numerous "premières", September 13-15, CIS

image009.png For the first time since the founding of the European Shock Society (ESS), 33 years ago, its congress will be held in France, and Institut Pasteur will host the 17th congress of the ESS from September 13th to September 15th, 2017. During the “World Sepsis Day”, a summer school on sepsis will be organized, and 15 sessions will address various topics such as antibiotics and anti-microbial strategies, biomarkers of infection, resolution of inflammation, consequences of shock and sepsis on brain, immmune dysregulation during sepsis and shock, animal models for human shock and sepsis. Prestigious speakers have already agreed to join us. Attractive registration fees are proposed for members of the IPN.

  • MIM 2017 - Microbes, Immunity and Metabolism international conference, November,15-17, CIS

image011.png The tripartite interface between Microbes, Metabolism and Immunity sets the tone for organism homeostasis and impacts on host capacity to react against pathogens. A wealth of recent findings has demonstrated the close relationship between commensal micro-organisms, immune priming and systemic metabolism.

MIM-2017 will bring together leading investigators in these fields, to see how the microbiome-host metabolic cross-talk can be translated into novel therapeutic approaches.
