A tailor-made mobile insectarium for conducting studies on mosquitoes, vectors of malaria in Cambodia

Thanks to the support of Rotary Club of Versailles and Rotary Club of Phnom Penh, Pasteur Institute of Cambodia has just equipped a mobile insectarium in order to develop entomological research activities in rural area of Cambodia to reach populations affected by malaria. Completely autonomous, this laboratory has an insectarium where vectors can be kept and fed, a secured room where mosquito experimental infections with patient’s blood can be carried out, and a third room for welcoming patients and blood sample taking. Being handed over last October, this laboratory will be used for, in addition to research and public health actions, conducting training in medical entomology during 2017 in order to improve local officials’ skills.
