Life outside the lab

Latest news from the Institut Pasteur sports club

Following the retirement of Christine Dugast, who chaired the Institut Pasteur sports club (ASIP) with tireless dedication for more than 10 years, the ASIP board was re-elected at the administration board held on December 14, 2015. An enthusiastic new team began its work on January 1st, 2016, alongside the new ASIP chairman Thierry Lang.

The sports club currently runs 22 activities - 30 hours of sport each week – for all those on campus, including OREX external research staff, students and contractors as well as Institut Pasteur staff. With such a wide range of sports available, there's something to suit all tastes. You can sign up all year round; special half-season prices are available from February.

A new runners' section has just been set up and will be led with passion and energy by Philippe Casanova and Mickaël Guillot. An "Institut Pasteur Team" will be open to all those with an interest in this sport. The idea of an Institut Pasteur Team perfectly encapsulates the sporting values of effort, tenacity, courage and team spirit that are promoted on campus. This is also a great way of meeting up with colleagues in an informal setting for some friendly competition!

Training sessions for runners of all levels will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 12 noon to 1pm. Those interested can join one of the running groups by signing up for the ASIP to eventually become a member of the Institut Pasteur Team. Several races are already in the pipeline: as well as the "20km de Paris" in aid of Pasteurdon (this annual race always coincides with the fundraising campaign) and the DéfiRun Paris in partnership with ASSU 2000, various other events are being considered. A full program of races will shortly be available on the ASIP website.
