Wuhan coronavirus: the Institut Pasteur's role in monitoring virus 2019-nCoV that has emerged in China


In line with its mission to monitor respiratory viruses in France, the Institut Pasteur is mobilizing its teams, especially via the French National Reference Center (CNR) for Respiratory Viruses, to identify and confirm suspected cases of acute respiratory infections linked to the new coronavirus that emerged in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. Since the beginning of the year, the number of cases has risen on a daily basis. The outbreak coincides with the lead-up to Chinese New Year, a time when tens of millions of people travel within China and worldwide.
