Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
The Institut Pasteur is delighted to invite the entire Institut Pasteur community to the first Institut Pasteur general lecture, given by ecologist Sandra Lavorel on Monday March 3, 2025 from 4.30 to 5.45pm in the CIS auditorium and via Zoom.
The idea behind this new lecture series, run in hybrid format (in person and online) and jointly coordinated by the Department of Scientific Affairs and the Department of Communications and Public Affairs, is to invite renowned experts from fields other than biology (natural sciences, formal science, humanities and social sciences, etc.) to come and share their research in an accessible way, inspiring discussions among the research community as well as more general reflections.
By turning to other disciplines, these new lectures are designed to stimulate creativity at the Institut Pasteur, raise awareness of different fields, and spark curiosity about major social issues that complement those addressed in the Pasteur 2030 Strategic Plan.
To launch the new lecture series, the Institut Pasteur is delighted to welcome Sandra Lavorel, a CNRS Director of Research at Université Grenoble-Alpes who specializes in functional ecology, in other words the functions of ecosystems and the services they can offer to human societies. Sandra Lavorel's research particularly focuses on the impact of climate change and soil exploitation on nature’s contribution to people. Her favorite place to study these impacts is mountain environments, especially the upper Romanche valley, above Grenoble, where she mimics the effects of climate change on Alpine prairies.
Save the date of Monday March 3, 2025 to attend Sandra Lavorel's lecture, and stay tuned to the BIP for further practical details which will be coming soon.
Following the first lecture in this new series aimed at all Institut Pasteur staff, a cocktail reception will be held to provide a more informal space for discussion.
