A new Strategic Plan for the Institut Pasteur
After taking office in January 2024, Yasmine Belkaid, in agreement with the Board of Governors and in close coordination with the campus, has built a new strategic plan to set the direction of Institut Pasteur's action for the next 5 years. Entitled “Pasteur 2030”, this plan is designed to prepare Institut Pasteur to meet the scientific and societal challenges of the future.
A first French version of this plan was circulated internally before the Christmas vacations. You will find here the final French version, which incorporates a few formal adjustments to the December version. An English version of the strategic plan will be available shortly.

Drawn up following a collaborative process involving many stakeholders on campus, the aim of "Pasteur 2030" is to strengthen the Institut Pasteur's role as a world leading institute for research into living systems, infectious diseases and human health.
"Pasteur 2030" addresses three objectives:
• improving our understanding of infectious diseases,
• finding solutions to tackle infectious diseases and their effects,
• sharing knowledge and promoting scientific values among society.
To meet these objectives, the new plan is based on an original approach that resolutely supports basic research, encourages trans-disciplinarity and cross-fertilization of expertise, and ensures a dialogue between research, teaching, medicine and translational research.
"Pasteur 2030" is based around four scientific priorities:
• Priority 1: Infectious disease threats
• Priority 2: Environmental transition & health
• Priority 3: Origins of diseases
• Priority 4: Health & disease at the extremes of life
The Institut Pasteur's ability to tackle major scientific challenges depends on its unique strengths, which include its scientific excellence, international presence, multidisciplinary approach and technological environment.
Laying the foundations for the future of research will continue to require the daily commitment of the Institut Pasteur community, which for generations has been working tirelessly and passionately to help achieve the Institut Pasteur's missions.
Unveiling the plan to the public
On January 21, the Institut Pasteur's new plan was presented to around 20 journalists at a press conference held by Yasmine Belkaid. This was an opportunity for discussion and to answer questions about how the Institut Pasteur is intending to tackle the scientific challenges that lie ahead.
