Upcoming Pasteur Medicine 4xQuarter-Hour session on rabies on February 15 at 5pm

Following on from the Pasteur Quarter-Hour sessions that have been held since 2015, the Medical Department is launching the "Pasteur-Medicine 4xQuarter-Hour," a forum for discussion during which people from different backgrounds and with a range of experience (physicians, scientists, epidemiologists, CNR experts, etc.) come together to share their complementary views on a subject of interest for Institut Pasteur staff and also for partner colleagues from other institutes. The sessions are designed to appeal equally to both scientists and physicians.

At the beginning of this new year, the first subject addressed will be rabies, a key topic in the early days of the Institut Pasteur that continues to be relevant now and as we look to the future. The session will feature a presentation of the activities of the Anti-Rabies Center in the Institut Pasteur Medical Center, the National Reference Center (CNR), the WHO Collaborating Center and the Lyssavirus Epidemiology and Neuropathology (LEN) research unit. Speakers will present recent examples of patients treated, diagnosis, alerts, and exploratory or applied research programs.

The event will take place on Wednesday February 15 from 5 to 6pm in the Emile Duclaux lecture hall or on Teams: Click here to join the meeting

Speakers:

•    Hervé Bourhy – Rabies CNR & LEN Unit: Introduction, basics, concepts, challenges

•    Laurent Dacheux – Rabies CNR & LEN Unit: Biological diagnosis and alerts

•    Philippe Poujol – Anti-Rabies Center in the Medical Center: Treatment for people who have been exposed/bitten

•    Perrine Parize – Rabies CNR & LEN Unit: Pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis Clinical research

•    Guilherme Dias de Melo – LEN Unit: Development of monoclonal antibodies: from prophylaxis to therapy

The presentations will be followed by a question and answer session and an informal reception to continue discussions.

The event is free but registration is required for external participants. Please email crt@pasteur.fr

We hope to see lots of you there!
