Practices for managing data and software codes at the Institut Pasteur

Managing and sharing research data and software codes has become a major challenge for research organizations as they seek not only to meet the requirements of funding bodies but also to improve the efficacy, quality and reproducibility of their research.

In June 2019, the Scientific Secretariat General launched the RDM Policy (Research Data Management Policy) project with the aim of developing an Institut Pasteur policy for the management of research data and software codes. Based on the practices and needs identified on campus, the aim of the project is to provide the Institut Pasteur's scientists with recommendations and best practices on managing data and software codes.

The first stage of the project was to analyze current practices at the Institut Pasteur. To this end, the project team carried out a survey with the Institut Pasteur's scientists, engineers and post-doctoral fellows, and followed this up with additional workshops with the scientists on campus.

The results of the survey and workshops are now available in a report entitled "A review of practices for managing and sharing data and software codes at the Institut Pasteur".
