Upcoming remote training: "Participate in Open Access" and "Pubmed"

  • Remote training: "Participate in Open Access: Policy Requirements and Submitting Articles to HAL-Pasteur" on Wednesday January 11, 2023 from 2 to 5pm* (in French)

The Institut Pasteur has set itself the target of 100% of publications each year published as open access. Since May 2021, in the Charter for Open Access to Publications, the Institut Pasteur has required its scientists to:
- publish their articles with a CC BY license and without an embargo, either in a fully open access journal or by applying the Rights Retention Strategy
- submit their publications to the HAL-Pasteur open archive

For the past two years, the COMESP has included the submission of publications to the HAL-PASTEUR open archive in its appraisal policy.

Find out more with the CeRIS, from the issues surrounding these policies to the practical procedures for submitting articles

Aims of the training:
- Understand the international open access movement and the role of open archives
- Find out about the open access policies of the Institut Pasteur and the policies pursued by France and funding bodies
- Learn how to submit your articles to the HAL-Pasteur open archive
- Manage your digital identity as a scientist in HAL with your IdHAL

The session is open to all and will take place remotely (via Microsoft Teams) in French.

PubMed can appear to be a simple, intuitive tool, but there are a number of techniques, features and tips that can help you boost the efficacy of your searches.

Have you heard of Automated search mapping and Medical Subject Headings? How do Boolean operators and truncation work? Do you already have a My NCBI account to personalize your filters and save your searches?

The Scientific Information Resources Center (CeRIS) is running a training course that combines a general overview with practical applications to help you get to grips with these techniques and save time with your searches.

Aims of the training:
- Identify the features that make PubMed a powerful database
- Learn specific techniques to improve the relevance of your search results
- Use the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) database to boost your PubMed searches by subject
- Create and configure a My NCBI account to personalize your PubMed features and save effective search settings

This training is aimed at people who need to carry out occasional or regular literature searches in the PubMed database.

It is suitable for beginners and also for users who have taught themselves the basics of PubMed and want to learn how to make better use of its potential.

It will take place remotely (via Microsoft Teams) in English.
