Units, U5s and G5s: new units and groups

  • New Machine Learning for Integrative Genomics five-year group

Following the favorable opinion issued by the Scientific Council in June 2022, in December 2022 the Board of Governors approved the proposal by the President to establish the Machine Learning for Integrative Genomics (Apprentissage automatique pour la génomique intégrative) five-year group as from January 1, 2023.

This five-year group will be part of the Computational Biology Department and will be directed by Laura Cantini, Research Associate at the CNRS.

  • New Molecular Diversity of Microbes five-year group

Following the favorable opinion issued by the Scientific Council in June 2022, in December 2022 the Board of Governors approved the proposal by the President to establish the Molecular Diversity of Microbes (Diversité moléculaire des microbes) five-year group as from January 1, 2023.

This five-year group will be part of the Genomes and Genetics Department and will be directed by Aude Bernheim, Research Associate at Inserm.

  • New Bacterial Transmembrane Systems five-year unit (U5)

Following the favorable opinion issued by the Scientific Council in October 2022, in December 2022 the Board of Governors approved the proposal by the President to establish the Bacterial Transmembrane Systems (Systèmes transmembranaires bactériens) five-year unit (U5) as from January 1, 2023, for a non-renewable five-year term.

This unit will be part of the Structural Biology and Chemistry Department and will be directed by Nadia Izadi-Pruneyre, CNRS Director of Research.

  • New Cell Death and Epithelial Homeostasis unit

Following the favorable opinion issued by the Scientific Council in October 2022, in December 2022 the Board of Governors approved the proposal by the President to establish the Cell Death and Epithelial Homeostasis (Mort cellulaire et homéostasie des épithéliums) unit as from January 1, 2023.

This unit will be part of the Developmental and Stem Cell Biology Department and will be directed by Romain Levayer, a Research Director at the Institut Pasteur.

The first five-year term of the unit will run through to December 31, 2027.

  • New Structures and Signals in the Neurogenic Niche unit

Following the favorable opinion issued by the Scientific Council in October 2022, in December 2022 the Board of Governors approved the proposal by the President to establish the Structures and Signals in the Neurogenic Niche (Structures et signaux dans la niche neurogénique) unit as from January 1, 2023.
This unit will be part of the Developmental and Stem Cell Biology Department and will be directed by Pauline Speder, a Research Director at the Institut Pasteur.

The first five-year term of the unit will run through to December 31, 2027.

  • New Trypanosome Molecular Biology unit

Following the favorable opinion issued by the Scientific Council in October 2022, in December 2022 the Board of Governors approved the proposal by the President to establish the Trypanosome Molecular Biology (Biologie moléculaire des Trypanosomes) unit as from January 1, 2023.

This unit will be part of the Parasites and Insect Vectors Department and will be directed by Lucy Glover, a Research Director at the Institut Pasteur.

The first five-year term of the unit will run through to December 31, 2027.

  • New Virus and Cellular Stress five-year unit (U5)

Following the favorable opinion issued by the Scientific Council in October 2022, in December 2022 the Board of Governors approved the proposal by the President to establish the Virus and Cellular Stress (Virus et stress cellulaire) five-year unit (U5) as from January 1, 2023 for a non-renewable 5-year term.

This unit will be part of the Virology Department and will be directed by Jean-Pierre Vartanian, a Research Director at the Institut Pasteur.

  • New Dendritic Cells and Adaptive Immunity unit

Following the favorable opinion issued by the Scientific Council in June 2022, in December 2022 the Board of Governors approved the proposal by the President to establish the Dendritic Cells and Adaptive Immunity (Cellules dendritiques et immunité adaptative) unit as from January 1, 2023.

This unit will be part of the Immunology Department and will be directed by Pierre Guermonprez, CNRS Director of Research.

The first five-year term of the unit will run through to December 31, 2027.
