Rethinking the rabies vaccine

Rabies virus kills more than 50,000 people each year. Current rabies vaccines are effective but they don’t provide lifelong protection and boosters are needed. Institut Pasteur scientists, in collaboration with researchers from the La Jolla Institute for Immunology in the USA, captured new high-resolution views of the rabies virus, revealing potential vaccine targets. The findings were published in the journal Science Advances.
