BIP: The Institut Pasteur newsletter - July 10, 2015

Press

The human body is inhabited by billions of symbiotic bacteria, carrying a diversity that is unique to each individual. The microbiota is involved in many mechanisms, including digestion, vitamin synthesis and host defense. It is well established that a loss of bacterial symbionts promotes the development of allergies. Scientists at the Institut Pasteur have succeeded in explaining this phenomenon, and demonstrate how the microbiota acts on the balance of the immune system: the presence of microbes specifically blocks the immune cells responsible for triggering allergies. These results are published in Science on July 9, 2015.

International

To improve the visibility and update information about each Institute from the Institut Pasteur International Network, a Database RIIP has been performed as an extranet site.

This site is a unique reference base accessible to all scientific and institutional partners wishing to contact each institute. All institutes supply and update the information in this Database RIIP.

The website Database RIIP in English is available at the following...

The "Roulons solidaires" campaign, organized in partnership with AG2R La Mondiale and held for the fourth year running, kicked off on the Institut Pasteur campus on July 6. Two stationary bikes have been set up in the cafeteria to clock up the kilometers. The target is to reach 500km each week.

So far you have cycled an impressive 285km and left us some great souvenirs of your energy and support on the special photo wall. A big thank you...
