Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
The Education Department continues its video series "My PhD at Institut Pasteur", aimed at showcasing the work of our PhD students.
In this new episode, discover the project of Yaëlle Wormser, a PhD student in microbiology who raises awareness about her tuberculosis research through a powerful rap performance. You may have had the chance to see her live during the Fête de la Musique on the Institut Pasteur campus.
Her project: to identify new compounds capable of inhibiting the DNA gyrase of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, a key target in the fight against drug-resistant forms of the disease.
To achieve this, Yaëlle uses a non-pathogenic model bacterium (Corynebacterium glutamicum), observes the effects of the compounds using fluorescence microscopy, and analyzes them with cryo-electron microscopy to visualize their action at the atomic level.
The result: a 3-minute rap video titled TuberKiller, blending scientific precision, a tour of the Institut Pasteur campus, and musical creativity to bring research to life in a unique way.
