Pathogenic bacteria produce a number of molecules that can be recognized by the innate immune system. These molecules associated with pathogens trigger an inflammatory response by stimulating specific signaling pathways in infected immune cells. Scientists from the Institut Pasteur and the CNRS, in cooperation with the University of Massachusetts Medical School, have demonstrated that group B Streptococcus degrades one of these molecules so that it can control the inflammatory response of the infected host.

The Institut Pasteur has initiated a new Quantitative Biology program intended to facilitate research and education at the interface of biology and physics.

The first Institut Pasteur Summer School on company start-up in the area of life sciences, organized in partnership with Medicen Paris Region, took place from July 7 to 9 on the Paris campus.

Research

In February 2016, the French Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Research and the Investment Commission launched the "Instituts Convergences" call for proposals, a new initiative within the second Investing in the Future program. The aim of this call for proposals was to establish a number of large-scale, highly visible, multidisciplinary scientific centers that are well equipped to tackle major issues at the intersection of societal and economic challenges and scientific concerns.

CeRIS

The Scientific Information Resources Center (CERIS) will be screening a selection of science documentaries from its DVD collection on campus from July 19 to August 9, 2016.

The fair will take place on Thursday September 15, 2016, from 12 noon to 2pm, in modules 2 and 3 beneath the company restaurant.

Fundraising

For the past two weeks, the "Roulons solidaires" campaign, organized in partnership with AG2R La Mondiale and held for the fifth year running, has been taking place on the Institut Pasteur campus, with two stationary bikes set up in the cafeteria.

The car parks will be cleaned over the next few weeks.
